The Pace We Speak
An identity system advocating for greater understanding, patience, and belonging around stuttering
The Pace We Speak is a conceptual advocacy-driven identity created to support people who stutter while encouraging greater patience and understanding around different ways of speaking.
Informed by my own experience as someone who stutters, the project is designed for both people who stutter and the communities around them, centering belonging, thoughtful listening, and the belief that every voice deserves the space to be heard.
The visual system brings these values to life through warm illustration, welcoming typography, approachable messaging, and a flexible identity that extends across educational materials, community outreach, and a digital experience.
The Visual Identity ✷
A visual language shaped by patience, warmth, and belonging
Clouds drift at their own pace, never forcing themselves forward. This became the symbolic anchor of the identity and inspired its name: The Pace We Speak.

Extending the identity into opportunities for connection and community

Creating The Pace We Speak reinforced something deeply personal to me: communication doesn’t have to move at a certain speed to hold value.
Through this project, I explored how design can encourage patience, understanding, and belonging.
